| Our Partners |
There are more than 900 Lions Clubs in the UK and Ireland many of which actively work within their communities to provide sight-saving information through a variety of activities. While even one dedicated individual can have a profound effect on the health of a community, people and organisations working together can reach even more of those at risk. Forming partnerships with other people and organisations will increase the resources available to you and your group, while lending credibility and expertise to the programme.
Lions in UK and Ireland work closely with the International Glaucoma Association, the Diabetics Federation of Ireland, RNIB Macular Disease Society, Low Vision Groups as well as with a wide range of other supporters at a local level whose support is critical in helping spread the message.
Partners can help in many ways. A hospital might agree to hang eye health posters in their waiting areas or a local optician/ophthalmologist might host an eye screening. A partner can also help by providing:
- Access to an audience or group
- Expertise about eye health
- Hands on support, volunteers
- Funds for activities
- Credibility
- Space for advertising activities
- Space to host an activity
- Transportation
- Letters of support
- A higher profile for eye health efforts
If you want support, just ask! You'll be surprised who'll be willing to help. Further advice on how to identify and recruit partners for your eye health efforts is available on the LEHP CDrom.
